We’re passionate about river connection. From humble beginnings in 2023, organising regular clean-ups along Diamond Creek and the Birrarung (Yarra River), we quickly realised our work was about more than just removing rubbish. It was about restoring relationships — between people and place, and between community and ecology.

Through these small but consistent actions, a deeper need became clear: the need for greater understanding of the role waterways play in the health of our environments, our communities, and our future. We saw how many people cared, but didn’t always know how to engage. We also recognised that the way we interact with our creeks, rivers and wetlands — how we move through them, speak about them, and care for them — shapes the stories we carry and share.

That’s why our focus has grown. Today, we work to educate, connect and inspire through creative conservation. We use tools like illustrated maps, community storytelling, zines, murals, and playful public engagement to deepen connection with waterways and local biodiversity. We support volunteer groups, celebrate grassroots efforts, and aim to grow a visible culture of care — where rivers are seen not as forgotten edges, but as living systems we belong to. As our cities rapidly urbanize, we believe it’s our shared responsibility to ensure nature has a place in the future we’re building — and that everyone feels empowered to help protect it.
