Love your river. Love where you live.

We connect people to the waterways and green spaces around them — through creativity, conservation, and community action.

Small actions make a big difference.

As our cities grow and change, we believe we must bring biodiversity with us. Urban rivers, creeks, and green spaces aren’t just home to the incredible platypus — they’re vital to all of us. They support mental health, ecological balance, and community connection. But too often, they’re overlooked, polluted, or lost to development.

Friends of the Platypus is a creative conservation group working to change that — by helping people fall in love with their local landscapes and feel empowered to protect them. From hands-on restoration to public art, playful engagement tools to story-rich mapping, we’re here to make environmental action more visible, more joyful, and more connected. Because when we care for place, we care for each other — and for the future we share.
